Lots coming up at Bodmin Folk Club between now and Christmas!
On Friday 11th November we welcome Mark Dowding to the club. Mark’s repertoire consists mainly of songs written in the traditional style by people such as Peter Bond, Bernie Parry, Keith Marsden and also the odd song from the 30s and 40s. He has been singing songs from Lancashire that Harry Boardman reintroduced in the sixties and seventies and were the subject of a recent CD “A Mon Like Harry”.
18th November we welcome Windjammer. These 3 lads have been taking the folk world by storm and are bringing more and more young people into the world of folk with their renditions of traditional songs plus a few self-penned. We saw them at the club just before lockdown and are pleased to welcome them back.
We have Open House on 25th November and 2nd December where everyone is welcome to come along and join in.
Our Christmas festivities begin on 9th December when we have our Christmas themed night. Join in with local carols and seasonal songs, music, poems and stories. We will be visited by the Trigg Mummers to perform their seasonal offering. Make sure you have some silver in your pocket to put in their hat … it’s bad luck not to! Come along and join in with the festivities.
16th December sees a real coup for the club. Pete Morton, Chris Parkinson and Emily Sanders will be performing THE MAGICAL CHRISTMAS TREE. Along with seasonal songs and stories this will be a night to remember.
23rd is a bit close to The Day so we are taking a rest and will be back with you all on 6th January.
